How do we support Ukraine?

We recently wrote about how the war in Ukraine affected the activities of our company and the entire transport industry. Today we want to share with you how it affected us in a purely human way and how we are trying to help the people of Ukraine.

When we hear about what is happening beyond our eastern border, we see the faces of our Ukrainian drivers and their relatives. Serhii, Anatolia, Ihor, Yurii, Volodymyr, Yaroslav, Vladyslav, Yevhen, Andrii, Eduard, whom we know and like, make it impossible for us to be indifferent. After all, it is about the life and health of our colleagues!

HELP FOR EMPLOYEES

As soon as the war began, it quickly became clear to us that our drivers, who remained in Ukraine, had no chance of returning to work in the near future. Although we obviously had to go back and forth to ensure that they were replaced, we devoted even more strength and attention to simply helping them. Each of them received support from the company in the amount of 1000 Euro to ensure maximum peace of mind for the families in this troubled time.

This was, of course, just the beginning. When, a few days after the outbreak of the war, one of our drivers asked for help in evacuating his family, we proceeded to act. At night, we drove to the border to take them to a safe place and opened the doors of our houses to them. Then it was time to help with the first formalities and find an apartment where our guests could feel more freedom.

We know logistics, so we managed to organize it in such a way that just 10 days after reaching the Polish border, the family could move to their apartment.

HELP FOR THE INHABITANTS OF UKRAINE

Someone wise said, as soon as the war in Ukraine began, effective helping would resemble a marathon rather than a sprint. We have the ambition for this to be our help. So we decided to focus on what we know best – transport. So we did not escape from going to Ukraine with humanitarian aid and on March 8, 2022, our first truck with 20 tons of humanitarian aid left the Dnieper, carrying food, basic chemicals and other products needed in such a situation.

Such help would not be possible without the openness and courage of our employees. We know that their dedication and help to the Ukrainian people do not end at work. The fact that we help as VEGA is the result of the fact that each of us helps privately as much as we can.

WHAT ARE WE TALKING ABOUT THIS?

Finishing this short text, I would like to share with you one more reflection. In business, you pay a lot for activities and events that will help build a team and the right atmosphere at work. I am convinced that the behavior of our team in this difficult time is something that will determine the identity of our company for many years to come.

Those who know me know that I don’t overuse big words at work. This time, however, I want to use them because I believe that the situation requires it:

Dear VEGA employees – thank you for your help. I’m honored to manage a team of such amazing people!
