Although the 1990s with attacks on truck drivers are a thing of the past, there are still many dangers waiting for the transported cargo. Fortunately, with proper preparation, most risks can be reduced to a minimum.
When you outsource the transport of your cargo, you want to be sure that the carrier will do everything to ensure its safety. This is how VEGA works, and to make it possible, we put special emphasis on:
MODERN TECHNOLOGIES (AND A LITTLE LESS MODERN)
Modern technology definitely makes it easier to stay safe. GPS monitoring means that we can track the location of the vehicle on an ongoing basis and react when something disturbing happens to it. There’s no way a vehicle would drive unnoticed to a forest parking lot where its trailer would be emptied.
However, padlocks or chains also work perfectly well, as they show that opening the semi-trailer will involve a lot of effort. As the Polish proverb says, “Opportunity makes the thief”. So if we make it difficult to open our cargo, most thieves will choose to steal from a car they have easier access to.
SAFETY PROCEDURES
Where can you stop to rest, and where can’t? How to behave when a driver notices suspicious activity. How and when to check that everything is properly closed? Every serious company should have its security procedures.
No less important than having them, however, is using them in practice. There is nothing even after the best written document, if it is not implemented and remains only on paper (which unfortunately also sometimes happens).
HUMAN FACTOR
Even the best equipment and the safest procedures are useless if we entrust their implementation to the wrong people. That is why in our company we pay so much attention to recruitment, training and subsequent cooperation with the driver. There is no room here for random people who approach their work unreliably.
We focus on long-term relationships with our drivers and office workers, thanks to which both know that they can repose trust in each other. This is conducive to building a culture of responsibility and taking care of the cargo entrusted to us as if it were something of our own. Therefore, we apply our own procedures, but in a situation where our employee assesses that it is not enough to ensure the safety of the load, he reports it and acts in such a way that you do not have to worry that the load will arrive damaged or will not arrive at all.
FOREWARNED IS FOREARMED?
Of course, the fact that we care about safety does not mean that we give up insurance. A random situation can always happen, so we must be prepared for it. We are covered by liability insurance for the amount of EUR 300,000. You can check our policy at any time on our website.
Regardless of whose services you use for transport, you can also purchase additional cargo insurance for your cargo. It will provide additional security. Remember, however, that if the carrier does not comply with the transport conditions specified in the policy, the insurer may refuse to pay you compensation. Therefore, it is worth relying on proven transport companies.
